Almost not sick anymore. :-) Peppermint mochas are the bomb when your throat is scratchy, but this one barista always becomes confused when I deviate even slightly from my usual order. Actually, he becomes confused even when I don't. He is determined to turn my soy latte into a skinny latte every time. :-p

Working on post-one-shot fic. Grr. As often happens, is over-ambitious to the point of futility. I just wanted a little pronromance, but noooooo, this seems to be developing an actual story, and mystery is not my forte. On the other hand, it's kind of OK, because the one-shot made me sad for Near, and I want to fix it. I want him to find a way to reconcile being himself with his idea of what L is supposed to be.

(At least, not post-one-shot. It feels like a place I've sometimes been myself, where you know what you're doing isn't working, but you feel weirdly bound to it and you can't stop.)

I hate it when I start things that make me say "This would be SO COOL if I could do it right." I've got a pretty darn cracked supergenius, Halle making googly eyes, a serial killer targeting detectives, ghosty!Mello sitting in Near's head and swearing up a storm, and the gods know what else it will decide it wants. I'm half Do not want and half Oh please let me make this work.
