Yay,
tikimama is here! It had been way too long since I saw her. She is as fabulous as ever.
We went and had yummy vegetarian Thai food, and then went to my place for Lost. The cats were entertaining. Spike showed off by scratching the couch and rolling around on the floor; and Anya showed off by giving a concert in the kitchen and doing her high-wire (well, high-kitty-condo) act with Octi. Luna came out to see H and demanded to be petted! (Luna is the ghost cat; this is a rare honor. I think H is right that what cats really crave is flattery.)
I was predisposed to like Lost because the folks at TWoP ranked it right between House and Veronica Mars, so clearly they have good taste; but I had only watched enough to know that it was good, and that I would much better appreciate how good it was if I had seen it from the start.
Things I knew going in, having seen most of the one where they were deciding who would go on the raft:
- The really pretty girl had escaped from a federal marshall after the crash
- There was some weird thing where they were in radio contact with people claiming they were the survivors of the crash
- That little kid is evil
- Some sequence of numbers keeps cropping up
- Sayid (Said? can't be bothered to look it up) is hot
After hearing some backstory from H, I'm sure Little Kid is evil. If I were with him, I'd definitely be worried about ending up in the cornfield.
When Sawyer gave Mike CPR, H commented that it would surely spawn fanfic. Indeed, I bet if I went looking right now, I would find some. 'cause nothing says "smoldering cauldron of repressed desires" like "I would rather take my chances on separate tiny rafts in shark-infested waters than stick with you."
So yeah. It's good, and I need to get caught up, because without a guide I don't know the significance of any of the things that keep recurring.
