Rude is a good word. Self-absorbed works well here, too. Other adjectives this fellow's behavior brings to mind include: disappointing, dismaying, immature ... of course you can probably come up with many more apt ones. The phrase, "Didn't your mother teach you any manners?" also comes to mind.

By all means, tell the dolt off. Write it down. Use it in a story. I know I would be less content with my life if I was unable to fictionally destroy versions of the idiots and assholes I come across.
