Pretty good Xmas for not being with my lil family. The kitties woke me up early, so I got up and unwrapped my stocking. Then, as is traditional, I had to eat breakfast and drink coffee and smoke a cigarette before opening presents. :-) My parents got me the purtiest comforter to replace my battered cloud one! It's dark blue and has stars and moons. And I finally own Edward Scissorhands on DVD, and all the extended editions of LotR. I called the ChefBoy, who was all alone too, and made him open his present from me (I have enabled another Patrick O'Brian addiction, go me!).

Miss

zinnea came over in the afternoon to see kitties and watch football and help me eat my food. I had tofurkey, green bean casserole (made with

theohara's scrumptious recipe), and roasted-garlic mashed potatoes. Then I fired up the two lil creme brulees I had left, and it was pretty good. ChefBoy's was yellower and creamier for some reason. I think next time I ought to put the hot-water bath in the pan after I pour the cream stuff into the ramekins 'cause they might have gotten some water in.

Then I went to

amai_unmei and

searob's Xmas Orphans party, where the other two guesties were very cool. We went bowling. It was packed, and we had fun.

I got home just in time to watch Read or Die, an anime movie that had looked cool. It was, in fact, cool. :-) Then I started to get sucked in to The Animatrix, but was too sleepy to stay up for it. Possibly the dessert wine had something to do with that! I was just a movie fool this weekend. I watched The End of the Affair and Spiderman 2 (which really was even better than the first, just like everyone says) on Xmas eve. And of course I had to watch Edward Scissorhands after I unwrapped it.

I have an urge to go to Ireland in the near-ish future, and have started doing research about prices and places to stay.
