darklunaI'm starting to think Mona's native tongue is Japanese, because when I practice speaking it, she looks at me with this expression of indulgence, as if to say "Aren't FoodLady's pathetic efforts cute?"
Japanese strikes me as a very cat-friendly language, what with the important stuff at the start of the sentence (the subject, which should always be a cat, of course!) and the irrelevant stuff at the end (the action the cat is performing - Who cares what I'm doing! I can hear them think. I am a cat!)
It took me a day to painstakingly compose my letter to my correspondent, and luckily a friend of a friend agreed to give it a sanity check. It is very sad and first-gradey. Thank you for your letter. I am sorry I speak Japanese badly. I am happy about your comic collection. See ellie write. Write, ellie, write! Of course, I thought my correspondent's slightly backwards English was endearing, so I hope she thinks the same about my Japanese.
