It cracks me up that Smallville is on "ABC Family" now, because whenever I watch it, all I see is the Big Gay Love. I think something like 7th Heaven would be more their speed, not a show where they have the characters naked as often as possible and where the subtext is so thick you can practially see the little lust rays emanating from Lex. Or maybe Michael Rosenbaum is one of those actors, like Viggo, who has sexual chemistry with everyone, up to and including the local flora. Hee.

Sorry I haven't been around much. I've been posting and hurrying away and not replying to folks like I usually do.

No writing is happening because of equal parts busyness and laziness, and that needs to change really soon. When I'm not insanely busy, I'm completely slacking. Feh.

I wish it would be Halloween NOW.

I still love the description I read somewhere that characterized the Cheney-Edwards debate as "Darth Vader vs. Luke Skywalker."

I find it interesting that ever since I've been paying attention to polls, DC has been pro-Kerry by a margin of like 83% to 15%. Doncha think they might know something we don't?

The Very Secret Diaries have infiltrated my brain to the point where I can't see the YOU SHALL NOT PASS! part without my shivery Gandalf-is-so-badass feeling being almost drowned out by the part of my brain that's saying "Who wields the flame of Arnor now, you poncey tosser?"

On CNN just now, the anchor said that Cheney will be trying to remind people of how the administration dealt with the immediate aftermath of 9/11.

Well, yeah. Because that's all they've fucking got.

Can't people see that how the administration acted that day is not an issue anymore? The real issue is how they've acted since, and what they've done in response, and most of all what they've tried to pass off as a response.

I remember being proud of Bush in the days immediately after 9/11. I wanted to believe he could rise to the occasion. But what's important to remember is that in the days after the attacks, there was really only one path, and it was so clear and right that anyone would have followed it. You mourn with us, you share our rage and pain, you promise to do something to fix it and punish the people who hurt us. That's the only thing you can do.

But to do that and then run off on a tangent that has nothing to do with the people who hurt us, all the while fucking things up at home so badly that our surplus has turned into a record deficit and you're the first president to have a net job loss since the Depression... probably no one else would have done that. It takes a special kind of stupid to do that.

I still feel that the good guys have the truth on their side, and all they have to do is tell it loudly and often. Since the first debate, they've been doing that. I just hope it's in time.
