Aug. 19th, 2005 07:02 pmI finally gave in and bought an espresso machine. I was so excited that I made myself a couple of shots pretty much the instant I got home. YUM. It's not as fancy as the one I'd own if I were as rich as I wanted to be, but it works beautifully. The espresso is tons better than Starbucks's...though not quite as good as Caffe Vita's.
I had a really fun time with my mom while she was visiting. We went and saw Howl's Moving Castle, and walked around Discovery Park, and had lots of yummy food. I like taking her to the sorts of places they don't have back home, like to get all-vegan Asian food and white coffee (with hotties! :-)). She was really excited about Uwajimaya. She took pictures. She is convinced for some reason that I amdoomeddestined to live in Magnolia. She really liked it there. I did successfully navigate from the damn place to Fremont. Yes, that is easy, you will say, but bear in mind that for me, Magnolia is A Bad Place easily as intimidating as the giant three-lane rotary in Medford MA.
We also had a little ongoing Futurama marathon of the best episodes, and we watched Phantom, and I made her read the
m15m summary, which made her hoot and cackle. :-D
After she left, I had the rest of the week off, which turned out to be a very wise idea, as I ended up working about 50 hours on my non-Microsoft job to get two books ready to send off to the printer. Now they are gone, yay!
Mona is showing off her newfound ability to get up on the bookcases, but she still doesn't always quite know how to get down, so she'll stand there meowing like she wants help, but not let me help her. Doofy cat!
