Busy, busy day! The kitties needed to be dewormed again, so I crept pathetically to the vet to have them pill the four who would rather have killed me than take their pills. Luckily two of the ones who took their pill-in-treat nicely were Mona, who has the most lethal teeny claws ever, and Sterling, who would have my hand off if I tried to grab her. Last night Anya ate one treat with medicine in it and spent the rest of the night glaring at me for the dirty trick. I tried dosing them the old-fashioned way with the grabbing and opening their fangs and poking the pill, but that's a procedure that really takes three hands, if not four, and Luna froths at the mouth and makes the crazy eyes and scares me! So rather than kill them or myself from frustration, I took the stubborn ones back. The vet folks were very nice about it. Much like my mom's vet, they could probably build a Fountain Memorial wing with all the money I've given them over the years.

One lovely thing about moving closer to my folks is that I will have help with cat-related things.

In between capturing cats and apologizing to cats, I got my EDD in working order so that someone can take XML and turn it into a pretty FrameMaker doc, so long as "someone" means me. I would hate to inflict this on anyone else. But I get to do the layout for the XML books we're doing soon, so yay!

This weekend I am going to cook ambitiously. The asparagus is in the stores now and looks pretty, so I'm making a vegan asparagus potage with garlic "cream" from The Voluptuous Vegan, and I also plan to make a decidedly non-vegan cake (seriously, the cake and various frostings call for about a dozen eggs) as practice for the one I want to make when my nephew arrives. It'll be two 8" yellow cakes with chocolate frosting in between and baby blue fondant draped over the outside, with royal icing along the edges. When I make the real one, I'm going to cut out white fondant letters and put them on the sides like an alphabet block. I've never played with fondant or royal icing before, and I'm excited!
