My PC, she ded. It died at the worst fucking time. I have a horrible project that's supposed to ship Friday, and all my notes were on it, and of course it had been a little while since I backed up.
The big storm yesterday killed it, even though it was turned off for most of it. I think my mistake was flipping off the power strip too (which I did to protect the cable modem and router, which are both fine). Once the storm had passed and I turned everything back on, the disk just spun and spun but never actually started up. The Geek Squad guys said the motherboard was bad.
Now I'm trying to juggle PDFs on the laptop, which is doable but a pain because Acrobat is a lot flakier on this machine for some reason.
Luckily my homeowner's insurance covers replacing the PC, and I'll probably end up with a spiffier one, but I'll have to eradicate Vista from it, and try to recover the stuff from the old hard drive that's new since the last backup. :-(
