I hit up my ex-hubby for his whisky snob knowledge for that last story. It was just a throwaway detail, but I figure if you're going to be specific, you might as well do it right. (And he amused me by saying The Balvenie = velvet, but Laphroaig = sledgehammer, so my choice for Matt's preference was clear.)
I realized something: Ex-Hubby probably wasn't even aware I wrote fanfic. In fact, I'm pretty sure I didn't discover slash (online, fandom-y slash, I mean) until after we broke up. That makes me feel... really old.
Also, because I have this from somewhere:
( Saucy blond, part the first )
Obviously there had to be this too:
( Saucy blond, part the second )
*snerk* I amuse myself.
I must decide what writing project to work on next now that I seem to have learned how to finish things. (In "Soldier..." and "Though My Hands..." I got a lot of use out of "OK, just write your best guess and fix it later if it turns out to be wrong.") The options are:
- The archaeologist/djinn story, or The Weird That Comes Out When I Try to Write Category Romance
- The post-apocalyptic fairy tale (60,000 words and not half done; oy vey)
- The Coed, the Princes, the Magician, and His Lover (hee)
Probably the last will win. I was afraid of working on it right after FMA fic due to the risk of conflating Edwards (one named as per canon, the other as per history, so neither can really change), but now I've written something Edward-free in between. :-)
