Babbling about reading
Nov. 14th, 2007 10:04 amIt's shameful, I know, but I never read the Chrestomanci books as a wee lass. By the time I was 11 or so, I was all about teh vampires. And then by the time I was 15 I was a wannabe Beat. I've also never read any Mercedes Lackey or... um, um. The other one. Andre Norton. From what I've heard, at my advanced age, I probably wouldn't appreciate most of Lackey or Norton. But Diana Wynne Jones is always good!
So, Charmed Life was, well, charming. It had a little of one thing I usually dislike: a main character who is kind of passive and gets pulled along by events. But Cat is so sweet, and his thoughts are so interesting, that I forgave him. And there was a reason he was passive, after all.
I think The Coed, The Princes, The Magician, and His Lover wishes it were a DWJ book. :-) The characters probably sit around saying "Why are we stuck with this lady?"
I also read Thursday Next: First Among Sequels. I'm hoping everyone on my f'list has read this series and I don't need to tell you how fun and crazy and jealousy-inducing it was. WANT NEXT BOOK NAO PLZ.
And I want to work for Jurisfiction so bad. That would be my dream job. Except I bet I'd get in trouble.
Miss Havisham or Someone: *sniff* darkluna, you smell like graphics. Have you been swanning off to manga again?
me: No... I mean maybe. I mean, there's someone there we ought to try to recruit! He's the three best detectives in the world, you know.
I've been trying to read Bold As Love by Gwyneth Jones, and I like it, I really do, but I just keep getting bogged down. I do get bogged down progressively further along each time. I love Axl, but I'm not feelin' Fio. I dunno. I got bogged down the first few times I tried to read Little, Big, which is my favorite book ever, so I'm going to try. (In Little, Big, I'd get halfway through and think Wah, give me Smoky and Daily Alice back! :-))
