Oh, that's true of yaoi an awful lot too; sometimes they both look like girls.
In this case even though the actor has to wear eyeliner to get the appropriate sleep-deprived, vitamin-deficient look, the character just looks like that.

I guess LiveAction!L does look a little girly there. Manga!L, who is my One True Fictional Love, doesn't look girly at all.
