um, this is quite possibly the most beautiful thing i've read in weeks *faints* the way you characterized the interactions between them was so prickly and heart breaking and just absolutely fucking real. i am in awe.
i loved that it wasn't one sided in the end, that near needed mello as much as mello needed him. it just made me so very, very happy - and sad since we all know how the story ends.
i'm mem'ing this because god knows there's not enough of this sort of mello/near in the world *hugs*
