One of [livejournal.com profile] searob's friends in NC was friends with Powell's daughter.

From the sound of it, Colin Powell took the job with Bush Jr. as a favor to Bush Sr. (to "keep him out of trouble"), but Powell soon found out that he was more of a figurehead than an advisor.

Man, it would be funny if he went off on Bush Jr.!
