Birdie got his stitches out and is healing nicely, yay.

Howl's Moving Castle, more yay! Cut in case anyone wants to be wholly unspoiled.

Oh my fucking guh. (Anyone surprised by that reaction, raise your hand. Anyone? Anyone?) Where's that damn "I ♥ my animated boyfriend" shirt? Actually, I was really pleased by the characterization. I know I'd never write a character as pretty as Howl without also making it a flaw, so the whole "I don't want to live if I'm not beautiful" thing cracked me up.

It occurs to me that I read the book in my misspent youth. However, it got tangled up in my lil head with two other things I read about the same time (Fire and Hemlock, also by Diana Wynne Jones; and the Dark Is Rising sequence, which was also set partly in Wales) such that I could not tell you the differences between movieverse and bookverse at this point. Must hunt down copy...
