Sureshot sells ground white coffee. Yay! The cute lil really young guy who works there offered to tell me the recipes for making their drinks with it, but seeing as they have a board with all of them pretty clearly summarized, I told him I could figure it out. :-)

There is a chai place I had never noticed before right around the corner from Sureshot, so I tried one of their drinks too when I was wandering about yesterday. My mom wanted to know if I had gone into the chai place with my Sureshot cup still in hand, which I guess would be the caffeine equvalent of lighting your cigarette with the butt of the last.

This kid from across the street has gotten it into his head that he should be able to use other people's phones whenever he feels like it, and he keeps coming to knock on my door. I've started to think I never should have let him use my cell phone the one time I did, and it really pisses me off that I should have to regret trying to be nice. I've been ignoring him, but it makes me feel very weird. I know he's just a dumb kid with an overdeveloped sense of entitlement and does not mean anyone any harm, but I get all nervous and freaked-out when I'm here and don't answer a knock on the door, even though I know I damn well have a right not to answer it if I don't wanna. *sigh*

We had the same thing happen here after we moved in. This total tool lives across the hall, and one day we had a blackout, so everyone was peeking out into the hall and he asked to use my cell. I let him because, well, it was a blackout and it seemed like a good reason. But then I found out from Jeremy (who had lived here for a few weeks before) that he'd lent his phone to the guy before and subsequently he started asking every single day to use it. About six days this went on before Jeremy told him he wouldn't be lending it again. Weirdo.

Some people just think everyone else exists for their own personal convenience. I hope your phone moocher lets you be. :)

white coffee???

gosh, and i thought i knew something...
so I googled it, cafe bianco? (how do the beans become white? is there a process or are they natural?)

Would love to hear your review of Sureshot's ground white coffee... I will go check the place out. I never saw it when I was at or lived north of the U; is it new?

I'm not sure how long Sureshot's been there, but at least a couple of years. It's on University near 45th, right next door to Twice Sold Tales where the kitties live. The white coffee is relatively new. As far as I know, it's like regular coffee, but has been roasted for a shorter time. It might use different beans as well. It's supposed to have more caffeine but be less irritating to one's stomach.

The white coffee drinks they make at Sureshot are all delicious. I drank my homemade white coffee shots with just soy milk, a shot of vanilla flavoring, and some cinammon on top, and that was yummy too.

Thank you! I'll check these out this week as I'm on vacation.

Btw, a note of trivia. My best friend from high school (Alexandria, VA) went to Brown when it was still Pembroke...I visited. We were into watching the guys crew. : ) The cafeteria was called The Ratty. More recently, a brother and sister I know from View Ridge, Josh (jazz saxophonist)and Alana Cohen, went.

!!! The Ratty used to be my cafeteria too! I lived in Wriston Quad, then Keeney, which was rather new when I was there (1991-1995), then in King House. We called the actual Pembroke-campus dining hall something else in my time. The VW? I wouldn't be shocked if my ex-hubby knew Josh Cohen if they overlapped at all; he was a trombonist in the marching band and wind symphony, and the name rings a faint bell to me.
