OK, dumb question for anyone who knows Japanese.

How can you tell the difference between when the Ha character is used to make the sound "ha" and when it's used like "wa"? Do you just have to tell from context?

My Tonari no Totoro soundtrack has the lyrics inside, and I'm practicing reading kana that way, but I keep not noticing when tsu is little. :P

Anyone see the news footage of folks celebrating the same-sex marriage ruling at the courthouse in San Francisco? Happen to notice the guy with long blond hair, a white t-shirt, what I'm sure were gray slacks, and sandals?

I used to be married to him.

I so would've gone with him to that if I still lived there. But I prefer to admire his libertarianism from a couple of states away, as opposed to arguing about it every day. He's good people, though. I hope to be celebrating a similar ruling here at home real soon now.
