Apr. 13th, 2005 07:57 pmMy mom once referred to "House" as "Home," so now every time I mention the show to her, I have to call it "Home" just to make fun.
This is payback for all the times she said she was laughing with me and I said "I AM NOT LAUGHING," all teenage capslock rage.
Anya decided at some point in the recent past that it would be real fun to eat dental floss. I didn't realize this 'til it was coming out the other end and appeared stuck. So: panicky trip to the emergency vet (panicky for me, not her; once we were in the exam room she climbed all over everything and purred), and the poopy dental floss fell off en route, of course. But she got checked out by the vet, and we judged that everything had passed and she would be OK. So I'm keeping an eye on her, but she is her usual self, so I am not too worried.
I finally exist at my day job, yeys.
You'd think that as many contractors as they have at the Big Evil Corporation, they might have worked the kinks out of the process enough so that when one arrived, one would have a valid login and be able to get the badge one needs to go into any building on campus. But noooooo. It invariably takes at least half a day before I can log in, another day to get the permissions straightened out so that I can, y'know, work, and three before I have a badge. Which means that for the first two days, every time I want to enter a building, go to the cafeteria to eat, or go outside to smoke, I have to either wrangle with the receptionist who fancies herself some kind of Last Defense Against Evil Outsiders or find someone to take me. And yesterday everyone on my team went to lunch early and either forgot I existed or forgot I was a non-entity in the eyes of the card readers and could not go get food unassisted. Ooooh, I was pissed.
But now I have my badge, la la la hurray. With a not unattractive picture, even.
