I am excited like whoa! Thanks to a friend's detective work, I have learned about fansubs - subtitled versions of anime that hasn't made it into English yet. I've also learned that the dubbed-into-English version of Inuyasha is notoriously poorly translated, a widely-held opinion I just confirmed for myself by turning on Japanese and subtitles for my DVD viewing pleasure. Only five minutes in, and I can already tell it's really really different. Also, the voice talent is better because these actors know the characters better, are more invested in them, and don't have the constraint of awkwardly trying to make the line fit pre-existing mouth movements.

I wasn't watching the English version on purpose, as such, I just didn't know.

The new way is SO EFFING COOL. Going to listen to the Japanese version of Sesshoumaru as soon as right this very minute.

Plus, by watching the original, my Japanese vocabulary, which is like unto ass right now, can only improve.

Dude, I am never going back to dubbed.

So I went to have lunch with my evil twin today, yay! I hadn't seen her in way too long.

As I was waiting for my sandwich, I thought, Wow, that guy looks just like [livejournal.com profile] searob. But [livejournal.com profile] searob in no way works here.

Oh yes he does. *hangs head* Luckily he was more confident in his recognition skills, and said hi.

The problem is that my brain has a malfunction that makes it think that [livejournal.com profile] searob's name and [livejournal.com profile] girlpirate's sweetie's name are interchangeable, even though they are, in fact, totally different names. I have the same problem with "Mitch" and "Steve", such that I have found myself referring to a character freely by either with absolutely no sense that I'm being inconsistent. So, sorry! I'm just a loser sometimes.

On a completely different note, Japanese!Sesshoumaru is all I could have hoped for and more. Oh, the guh.
