How did that upper midwest sneak in?

Your Linguistic Profile:

40% General American English

30% Yankee

20% Dixie

10% Upper Midwestern

0% Midwestern

I'd never been north of North Carolina until age 15, so OK with the Dixie. It was the "y'all" and "coke" that earned it, I'm sure. People not from the south always refuse to believe me when I say "coke" is generic. I lived in Providence and Boston long enough that I say Nomah and Woostah and know that a cabinet isn't always storage space. I've caught what I call The Ohio Construction from my evil twin (where you leave off the "to be" after "need": I can't buy that vibrator; it needs plugged in and my bedroom's outlet is inconvenient). Upper midwest? A mystery.

It may be the test's way of saying that my mix of English is actually 40% standard, 30% Yankee, 20% Dixie, and 10% Spent Her Formative Years Reading Instead of Socializing. Or the 10% is whatever it is that makes people ask me pretty often if I'm British. Some kind of earnest semi-formality or something, you betcha.

I wonder why there was nothing about the great chocolate sprinkles/chocolate shots/jimmies linguistic divergence?
