[livejournal.com profile] needfulthings's post reminded me I hadn't done one in a while, so while I'm waiting for a chapter to work on...

I've been back at my old day job for a week, and it kind of feels like I never left. Except the group moved while I was away, and we're now in a building where saying, plaintively, "I wish I could find the stairs" will draw more sympathy than scorn.

I ran around all day Saturday with Miss [livejournal.com profile] zinnea and had a good ol' time. We did the Beverages of Asia tour with bubble tea, Thai iced coffee, and chai. And we saw lots of cute doggies. At Uwajimaya I finally got the Japanese-English dictionary I'd been wanting, a handbook of slang and profanity, and a Japanese-language issue of Inuyasha that showed me right away that I need a more comprehensive dictionary. :/ But it's an issue I have as anime too, so I can fill in the gaps. Even if they do translate "zamaa miyagare" as something a lot less rude than it actually is.

Tonight on TV there's something I don't like to admit I watch, followed by House, about which I have no embarrassment.

They got me with Bo. He's almost as hot, and about the same flavor of hot, as a young Mark Lanegan.

Edited because I forgot to add: my freakiest cat, Sterling, got on my lap yesterday without faking like she was walking on the couch and just happened to end up there. She jumped right onto me, like, voluntarily and all. And then she PURRED.

Dear Bo,

When I get access to that time machine and go back to Seattle circa 1989, come with me and make a bazillion dollars. Seriously. It is where we belong.

Whilst typing a comment to [livejournal.com profile] ordinarywhirled, I had a lightbulb-over-the-head moment with the revelation that Constantine is the anti-Johnny Depp. Because I think he's going for that kind of offbeat sexiness but is totally failing due to his overwhelming personal smarminess. Oh, and the being a famewhore too. And looking bad in eyeliner.

Competing in my little brain right now are "September," which I have always referred to as "that ah-ee-ah-ee-ah-ee-ah song" and Brak's...er, inimitable rendition of "MacArthur Park."

Seriously, who picks that song? Who is not in on the joke that is that song? Yeah, I know. A little girl who has no cultural context for it. And also Ryan Seacrest, who, really? Is kinda the same thing.

So I love Bo because of that whole type-and-degree-of-hotness like unto Mark Lanegan thing I mentioned earlier, and also because he is the only one I can imagine being in a real band and being good at it. Enough that I would so be stationed right under him at shows. For the groping. Or at least so I could say later that I was within groping range.

My other favorite was Nadia because she was hella wicked cool and didn't give a shit and sang Dusty Springfield.

So let's pretend I hate Bo, I guess.
