My firstest poll

I myself would never skip a prologue and plunge right in to Chapter One, but I've heard many literary agents and other publishing types assert that most readers skip them. Prologues tend to sprout from my works in progress like kudzu on anything that stands still long enough, so I wonder, dear readers:

ETA: Can't see a way to edit the poll, but first of all, I was thinking of novels. Why didn't you guys read my mind? I mean, jeez. ;-) Second, there should be a middle option along the lines of "I read it if it seems important."
