We were a simple folk
Jan. 23rd, 2007 11:02 amMy mom and I got on to the subject of my sister and me playing in the yard as little kids.
Mom: What on earth were you two doing when you gathered up the cut grass?
me: That was our harvest. We were an agrarian society.
Mom: At six and four years old...I believe it. I always thought you were making nests. You took it down to the ditch and arranged it so neatly.
me: That was our city, and we were storing food for the winter. We had to sing as we gathered it. It was a sort of harvest festival.
Mom: I could hear you singing!
me: We were a simple folk.
Mom: You were a weird folk.
