Babbling about writing

Once more, I'm trying to work on the Princes in the Tower story, and once more, I'm getting frustrated because I've become too attached to a character who isn't supposed to be introduced until about a third of the way through the book.
I could start with him, but then there would have to be either a massive flashback or a massive infodump to explain everything that should have been narrated but got skipped in my haste. And it's not like the two characters on whom the first third centers are boring. We've got Girl Meets Boy, Girl Discovers Boy Is Unwillingly Time-Traveling Prince with Lost Brother, Girl Must Decide Whether to Ditch Boyfriend for Said Prince, Girl Gets Magically Attacked by Forces Unknown. Not boring, right? But the person they go to for help after the magical attack by forces unknown is so much fun that I can't wait to get into his POV.
I guess I could work on the later parts and come back and fill in the beginning. I'm having a hard time feeling motivated to write at all, actually. It is woeful. :(
