ChefBoy owns a copy of the EE of Fellowship, but apparently we never watched it, because I was watching the movie yesterday, and was shocked to find that Celeborn is pronounced with a hard C. (Is it lamer not to know that, or is it lamer to really, really care that I didn't? :-)) Then I watched the extras, and dude! Elizabeth Fraser does the Lothlorien-theme vocals! But my favorite music is still the Rohan music.

It is a lot harder than I thought to hold a fictional war. It happens before my story even starts, but I do need to know what happens. I can imagine lots of ways to get it started, but I'm kind of looking at the tapestry wondering which thread would be best to tug on.

Have you not read the Silmarillion? It contains all the pronunciation rules. And, so you know, all Elven C's are hard. They may be squishy, but their consonants aren't.

I attempted the Silmarillion when I first read the trilogy, but couldn't get through it. It's pretty tough going for an 8-year-old. :) But I went and got myself a copy just yesterday.

That's about the same age that I read it. Of course, I had also read Edith Hamilton's Mythologies and The Bible around the same time frame. And, in so doing, doomed myself to a life of esoterics and anachronistic thought
