Friday night was the Pearl Jam show with all my PJ friends. We hadn't all been together since the last Bridge School Benefit over a year ago. We had dinner and shopped, and I actually enjoyed the shopping. (Even though I look just like a girl, I am a boy, and almost never shop just to shop.) The show was quite good, though I wish they had played some more obscure songs instead of sticking mostly to crowd-pleasers. But with a short set, what can ya do? It was still really nice to see them after so long. When McCready wears glasses, his resemblance to Matthew Perry is eerie. Except that one hopes Matthew Perry would never do that to his hair. (Actually, I fear he has at least once. What is it that makes perfectly fine-looking boys suddenly crave platinum blondness?)

The kitties woke me up Saturday in time for me to go to the NW Women's expo thingie with Miss [livejournal.com profile] zinnea, where we got loaded down with free samples of everything from kitty food to lip balm. Then we went shopping. And I liked it again! I may be a girl after all. But better than the shopping was the scrumptious vegan field roast we had for a late lunch. One place on Capitol Hill always has it, and this time it was with country gravy. Peppery and yum!

I was trying to decide last night if I wanted to go to Show A or Show B or just stay home, and ended up just staying home. [livejournal.com profile] zinnea and I had wandered about in the rain all day, and once I got home and into dry clothes and parked on the couch with my fleecy blankie and hot tea, I was so deeply content that I pretty much just stayed there.

This morning I had brunch with the PJ friends so the out-of-town one could continue her gastronomical tour of Seattle, and then we went to the Fremont farmers' market, which I thought would be the kind with produce but was actually the kind that's like a big yard sale/crafts fair.

Now I will be lazy for a while to balance things out.

I have decided I need to dress with a little more flair. I have instituted a moratorium on buying black clothes. Until recently, a burgundy top was daring for me, OK? (Well, mostly because I tread carefully near reds and oranges, being a pale person with pinkish skin and red hair.) But now I feel like my clothes do not accurately reflect my inner self. There needs to be less gray and olive and more bright blue and forest green. So maybe that's why I suddenly liked shopping this weekend. My haul was: lovely white shirt with skinny red stripes and Asian-ish embroidery, also red; stripey trousers in grey, brown, cream, burgundy, and dark plum, and a blue sweater to go with them that doesn't strictly match but goes; and a little lilac a-line skirt with a flower pattern and a wee dragonfly embroidered by the hem.

The wind is gusty and loud today. Every once in a while it flings rain hard against the windows, which is neat and makes me feel cozy in here.
